Look within...

It’s been pretty long since I last wrote something on my blog. But, I am not a full-time writer after all! I write when I feel like and when I have time from my full-time job…
Also, since last couple of months, I was mostly out during the weekends, and thank God for that! Now, that second wave of Corona has engulfed Germany, going out isn’t viable anymore.
I just wish that this pandemic ends once and for all this time! Until then, following strict hygiene, social distancing and all other recommended safety measures is the only way to fight the virus.
Today is a very special day. It is the start of Navratri which is a Sanskrit word that translates as ‘Nine Nights’. It celebrates the triumph of Good over Evil. Goddess Durga fought with demon Mahishasur who was a symbol of Ego and Evil, for nine days. So, we celebrate this festival as a mark of the victory of Righteousness. I am an ardent devotee of Goddess Durga! She holds a very special place in my Life. She made me what I am today. Indeed, it is a very special day for me!
I know, it sounds a bit melodramatic but hey! devotion is a very tricky emotion after all! But, it is equally powerful too!
Today, being an auspicious day, I thought, it is the right occasion to revive the writer within me!
I want to talk about ‘me’. What is the importance of your very existence in your Life? Surreal question, isn’t it?
We always try to fit in. Fit in with our family. Fit in with our friends. Fit in with our colleagues at work. Fit in with almost everyone who influences our lives in some way.
But, what about fitting in with our own self?
Being happy with ourselves is undoubtedly the most important necessity to live a happy life.
Many a times, we are so engrossed in trying to be like the ones’ we aspire to be, that we forget our own identity along the path. Trust me, this path won’t lead us anywhere…
We should always try to be better in all walks of our lives. To improve and get inspired is the gist of leading a more meaningful life. But please don’t misunderstand improvement with imitation.
Don’t change to an extent wherein you become a different person altogether.
Life sometimes puts you in situations that forces you to believe that something isn’t right with you. It makes you want to change yourself. It makes you so self-conscious that you begin to doubt yourself.
When I was in school, I was bullied for a brief period of time. Bullying went to the point that, I started skipping school. I was too scared of my parents to confide to them. So, I kept everything to myself. My friends were my support system and they helped me fight back. I soon realized that, it doesn’t matter what others think about me; what really matters is what I think about myself!
I soon came to the conclusion that – I love me!
So, I wiped my tears, threw the fear out of the window and just formally complained to the school management. Those naughty kids were warned and after they realized I am not affected by their comments anymore, they stopped!
Moral of the story – Fight Back and Believe in Yourself.
I believed in me then, I believe in me now!
Being depressed, self-conscious, and socially awkward are all somewhere linked to the fact that we don’t appreciate ourselves and crave external validation. Each one of us is a unique individual. We all have a different DNA and a totally different personality. Before being accepted, it is important to accept yourself.
Appreciate your existence. Be happy, be spiritual. Spirituality is not just confined to being religious. Just let go off the materialistic things and become one with the Universe and honor this Oneness.
I have time and again mentioned, spirituality is relative. Find what gives you peace and calmness. Music, Art, Passion, Devotion – it could be anything and everything.
We all want to be successful in our lives. But, success comes at a price. We need to remember one thing – When success is achieved at a cost of happiness, it isn’t worth it.
After all, happiness is something that’s simply priceless. So, go for your dream but do not forget to ‘live’ while you are trying to attain your ‘dream’!
Today is a crazy time! Internet has brought the World closer but has distanced us from ourselves. We don’t really have time for ourselves, do we???
Please, once in a while… Look within…
Look within and you would know what to do…
Give yourself some time out of your busy schedule!
This statement is pretty ironical since I am only able to write now after months! But hey, better late than never! ☺
It’s been only a few months that I have started to follow my passion for writing, although I have loved writing since forever!
I will always regret for not giving myself this opportunity long before.
Now when I write, it gives me immense satisfaction and happiness. When I share my feeling with others, share my life stories, my learnings, my experiences… it gives me this sense of relief and just makes me smile!
I could have smiled a lot sooner than this!
Nevertheless, I am happy that now I do what I want to do when I ‘look within…’
When are you going to do that???
So here I end my blog for today with this simple question. Ask yourself this question and just do what your heart says!
Until then, know yourself a little more, love yourself a little more, and appreciate yourself a little more.
