A very happy Sunday to everyone! It’s warm and sunny here in Bonn and I am loving it! I would have loved it even more if I could enjoy & adore it by venturing out! Although many restrictions are lifted in Bonn, this fear of Corona doesn’t allow me to go out unless absolutely needed!

Anyway, let me continue sharing my journey from where I left in my last post! Those who are first time readers, I would recommend you all to go back to my previous posts prior to reading this one. You would have much better insights and hopefully can relate with my experiences with better clarity.

So, assuming you have read my earlier posts – here I begin…

I was in dire need of finding a good accommodation. Needless to say, I had registered on all known room sharing websites. There were less than 10 days remaining for the current AirBnB stay. So, it was a race against time and I had to win!

For the first few days, the response was negligible. I feared my worst nightmare might come true! The thought of being stranded on a foreign land was getting on my nerves.

Each day started with hope, anxiety, stress and fear and ended with same set of feelings with much larger magnitude!

Next few days, I received lukewarm responses. I spoke with few, but things didn’t materialize as majority of the places needed a German speaking roommate! Finally, a ray of hope arrived after a few hapless and stressful days. A room was available for rent, close to my office location. I was so happy and relieved. I immediately booked the appointment to visit the room. I requested my fellow colleague to accompany me as Bonn was still a new city for me and I wasn’t acquainted with all the routes. Plus, my struggle with Google Maps was known to all!

After the working hours, we left to visit the place. We took a bus and reached the closest stop. The vicinity seemed really nice. I was so exhilarated! As we were following the Maps and wandering through the lanes, I couldn’t help but appreciate the beauty of the place! I already started weaving my future staying around this wonderland!

As we came close to the destination, we could see beautiful apartments on both sides and I could see my future Happy Home everywhere! We came across one building though, which seemed really out of the place! It was not maintained, seemed a bit dilapidated. It was emanating negative vibes from the moment we laid our eyes onto it! I told my colleague, if this is where we had to go to visit, I would run away with all my strength! We shared a good laugh talking about it.

As per Maps, we had reached the destination but we were still not able to locate the place. So I called the ‘Miss’ with whom I was speaking to. She picked up and told me she can see us! She said she is at the balcony and is waving at us. We were looking in every direction to locate that ‘wave’ except for you all know where – the building in question!

The harsh reality of my life hit right on my face! When it is about me, nothing goes as planned! Absolutely nothing!

Finally, after not being able to locate her elsewhere, we both looked at that building and our worst fear came true! Here she was, waving at us!

We both wanted to pretend that we didn’t see her and wanted to step back and never return to the site of this building! But damn you ‘Courtesy’! She saw us, we saw her and she saw that we could see her! …and that’s how we got stuck in this See-Saw!

We had to go inside the building. We had to see the room.

Sometimes, being courteous is just not fair! Anyway, it was Floor# 3 I guess – no elevators. So, we had to walk the stairs. With each stair, I could see the condition of the corridor and I could also see fear gripping me from all sides! It was such a shady place! I was really upset with God for putting me in this situation but was also a bit relieved that I was in this situation with a male colleague of mine! So, after being really upset with the Almighty, I also offered a Thank You!

We reached the flat. We saw the advertised room. We had a cordial talk with the girl. I told her, the room is good and I will contact her soon. We came out of the room. We came out of the flat… and we ran out of the building.

What an adventurous evening! None of those dangerous rides in the amusement park I have visited so far, gave me these many goosebumps as much as I had in those 20 odd minutes whilst we were inside that building!

As soon as we came out, I apologized to my colleague and thanked him for coming with me and helping me.

I boarded the train to go to my AirBnB place. All along the journey I was thinking about how and when, I shall be able to find a place suitable for me! I was badly missing my family and home! But, I didn’t want to share this incident with them. They were already worried for me being here alone, this incident would have caused a tenfold increase in their stress!

I came back to the AirBnB place. Spoke to my family and shared precisely filtered events from the day. Once again, this day started with hope, anxiety, stress and fear and ended with same set of feelings with much larger magnitude!

My struggle to find a good place continued and so did the adventures that my dear Life had planned for me! I will share these adventures that I had to deal with, in my next post!

Until then, like I always say – Stay Happy, Stay Safe!
